Rokumonsen - Six coins amulet
Rokumonsen (六文銭) literally means “six coins.” In Japanese Buddhist belief, these coins are the toll paid to cross the Sanzu River (三途の川) the boundary between life and the afterlife.
Because of this, the symbol came to represent:
- Readiness for death — always prepared to cross into the next world
- Fearlessness — nothing to lose, nothing to hesitate
- Resolve & sacrifice — a warrior’s acceptance of fate
- Spiritual awareness — understanding life is temporary
In short, it’s not just about death it’s about living with full conviction, knowing death is always near.
